- Athiya said before in a BT report that when she was a little girl, she used to accompany her father on his movie sets, particularly JP Dutta’s Umrao Jaan. It was there that she met Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who was to have great influence on little Athiya. She would spend her time on the sets watching closely as Aishwarya got dressed and had her makeup done. It got her interested in the movie life.
- It was only when she was on her way to study in the US, did Athiya decide that acting was her career of choice. She had spent the previous months searching for study programs in the US, but her mind was occupied the whole time with the idea that theater and acting meant way more to her than a college degree. She told her parents her decision in the last moment, as they were saying goodbye to her at the airport.
- After she decided to pursue her passion for acting, she still went to the US, but this time to learn at the New York Film Academy. She was 18 years old at the time.
- During her late school years at the American School of Bombay, Athiya participated in several plays. She appeared in some of these plays with Bollywood stars Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff.
